Sarasota County Health Department
The Sarasota County Health Department (SCHD)
provides comprehensive public health services to residents of Sarasota
County. It is a part of the
Florida Department
of Health and
Sarasota County Government.
SCHD provides a variety of
health and human services to help residents
get and stay healthy. These include clinics, education and counseling
programs, confidential screenings and tests, immunizations (shots), and
others.
Additional SCHD programs are designed to
protect public health through mosquito management,
inspections, and
other services.
SCHD also promotes health in the community
through various outreach programs. The Health Promotion office
spreads information and sponsors programs and speakers on public health
concerns like tobacco use, HIV/AIDS, and childhood obesity.
Community Health
Improvement Partnership (CHIP) brings concerned citizens,
businesses, and organizations together to address the health concerns of
the community.
