we provide a range of services
to the residents of our community – from ensuring safe drinking
water, and the safe operation of day care facilities and family
day care homes, to promoting healthy lifestyles, and providing
access to affordable healthcare through our Women’s Health,
Dental, Child Health and Primary Health care clinics.
We invite you to
visit our state-of-the-art facilities in
Sarasota and Venice. Our newly renovated
North Port
facility will soon be open to meet the growing needs of the
underinsured and uninsured in the southern part of
Sarasota
County.

I am proud of our dedicated and
highly trained public health workforce that is
ready to respond to a range of emergencies – having been tested
in supporting neighboring counties in hurricane response and
recovery, being deployed to
Mississippi
during the aftermath of Katrina, and during the past year with
the H1N1 flu pandemic.
As an organization, we strive to build connections through
partnerships with other agencies
to enhance the health and safety of our community.

residents to
get involved in our community’s health.

Sarasota County Health Department's Services
Sarasota County Health Department (SCHD) provides comprehensive public health services to residents of
Sarasota County. It is a part of the
Florida Department of Health and
Sarasota County Government.
SCHD also promotes health throughout Sarasota County with Community Programs,
including Health
In Motion (our mobile medical unit). These programs provide health
services and information to the public.
