of a variety of public health concerns related to the physical
environment, including:

institutional food services, tanning/piercing salons, and nursing

Environmental Health Services investigates reports of residential indoor
air quality problems, food- and water-borne illnesses, sanitary
nuisances, and bites by potentially rabid animals.

construction, operation, and modification of septic systems and wells is
regulated. Well-water is tested for contamination.

conducts inspections of certain types of businesses and public resources
to ensure public health and sanitation.

Septic System
Permits
Septic Systems
Environmental Health Services regulates the design,
installation, and operation of onsite sewage systems in
Sarasota County and responds to complaints regarding systems in failure. A
permit obtained by a Registered Septic System Contractor is required to
perform this type of work.
Brochures for
proper septic system maintenance, a list of professional engineers who
design new systems, or a list of Registered Septic System Contractors
are available at our Environmental Health offices or can be mailed to
your home.
Child Care Licensing
In order to
protect the health and safely of the children in our community, the
child care section issues licenses and carries out inspections of all
family child care homes and child care facilities in Sarasota County.
