Application process
This page outlines the steps you will
take to become an active MRC volunteer, beginning with registration,
continuing through required training, and finishing with a
background check. If you have any questions or difficulties,
please contact us.

- Step 1: Register in Serve Florida -
www.servfl.com
Serve Florida is the statewide volunteer database.
Make sure to fully complete each section.
- Step 2: Complete and submit BOTH application forms
You must complete BOTH of the following forms. You may
download and print the forms using the links below.

(INSTRUCTIONS: You may fill in the fields on this form
on your computer, then hit the 'Print' button at the bottom
before signing and returning to the MRC via mail or fax.)
- Step 3: Complete online training courses
You must complete ALL of the courses listed here. Once
completed, please submit copies of the certificate(s) of
completion (details above). CEs/CEUs are
available for these courses - contact us
if interested.

- Step 4: MRC Orientation
- In-Person Orientation (see
Calendar for available appointments)
(Includes Preferences, Skills, and Training Surveys)
- Completion of training required by Sarasota County
Health Department (topics include HIPAA, Confidentiality,
Information Security, OSHA).
- Step 5: Background Check
All applicants must undergo finger-printing and a Level II
background check. Contact (941) 861-1280 for an
appointment.

Background Checks
All MRC volunteers, whether or not they
are licensed health professionals, must undergo a background check
before volunteering. This process includes fingerprinting for
federal, state, and local background checks.
The background checks are paid for by Sarasota County Health
Department.
