STD Services
at SCHD
SCHD operates clinics specifically for
those individuals desiring examination and treatment for sexually
transmitted diseases (STDs). Fees are assessed on a sliding fee
scale based on income. However, no one is ever denied services for
an inability to pay.
All visits are strictly confidential under
the State of Florida's confidentiality laws. With very few
exceptions under the law, patient information is never released to
anyone without the patient's consent.
The following tests and/or examinations
are routinely administered:
STD Services for Minors
Basic STD services for individuals under
18 years of age are free of charge. Individuals 12 years of age
and older may access STD clinic services without parental consent.
In addition, Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) are available for
counseling and partner notification services when needed. DIS
provide a vital public health function by notifying individuals that
they have been exposed to an STD. The identity of the source
patient is never revealed.
